This course focuses on what is one of the fastest growing careers in the nation. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a software program that allows the user to spatially analyze, evaluate, and understand relationships with the physical and/or social world. GIS is a growing field in the physical and social sciences, business, marketing, government, health, education, etc. Students learn how to collect various types of geographic data (i.e. satellite imagery, aerial photography, GPS, the Internet) from various organizations, industries and CD-ROMs and analyze the information using GIS.
